Zeus' architecture is schematically shown in the figure
below.
It has 32 nodes: The first 8 are single processor nodes
(denoted in figure as part A) and the rest have dual processors
(shown in figure below as part B) as outline in the part on
its hardware
There is a server with a large hard drive. The 32 nodes
are regarded as diskless and they obtain their operating
system though the ethernet from the server using bootstrap
protocol. Each node, however, has a large
hard drive which is used by the applications running
on each node; instead of sending the processed data
to the server via ethernet, the program running on a
node using the local disk for temporary storage during
execution.
